With respect to the architecture, the unit considers architectural history, different architectural styles, architectural aesthetics and appraisal, along with contemporary debates in architecture and the work of prominent international architects.
With respect to urban design, the unit examines how places are physically or formally structured, the importance of the public realm, perceptions of place, uses of space in everyday life, and ways in which power, conflict and difference play out through built-form.
